The Government of the People’s Republic of China will host the Kunming Dialogue from 7 to 9 September 2026 as an informal technical dialogue on the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
The Dialogue will bring together Parties, Indigenous Peoples and local communities, women and youth representatives, academia, the private and financial sectors, experts and other stakeholders. It will provide a platform for multi-stakeholder consultations related to the global review of collective progress in implementing the Global Biodiversity Framework, which will take place at the seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17) in Yerevan in October 2026.
The Dialogue aims to build a shared understanding of the scope and expected outcomes of the global review, including how gaps identified through the peer-reviewed global report can be addressed to accelerate implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework.
Regional consultations will take place on 6 September, ahead of the main Dialogue.
