The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will host an online webinar on 3 September 2026 focused on strengthening communication between forest-dependent communities, practitioners and policymakers.
Communities living near forests are often among the first to observe pest outbreaks and changes in forest conditions. The webinar will examine gaps in how this local knowledge informs programme design and how field evidence is communicated to policy processes.
Practitioners, community facilitators and policy representatives will discuss approaches to improving these connections and strengthening communication for forest health.
The session will also include the launch of One Health and Forest Invasive Species: A Position Paper and the From the Roots Up: Forest Health Communication Challenge. The top entry in the challenge will receive priority access to a postgraduate scholarship at Beijing Forestry University.
