This online webinar on 24 November 2026 will present the findings of a report by CEE Bankwatch Network and EuroNatur on securing biodiversity funding under the next budget of the European Union (EU).
The availability of EU funding for biodiversity under the next budget is uncertain. Meanwhile, member States must prepare National and Regional Partnership Plans setting out how they intend to comply with EU environmental legislation. The webinar will look at how these plans can ensure that biodiversity receives adequate funding. It will present the report Greening the EU budget: Delivering for nature through the national and regional partnership plans, which sets out good practices and tailored recommendations for biodiversity-focused reforms and investments in Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia and Poland. EU and national experts will discuss concrete measures, followed by a question-and-answer session.
Agenda:
- Introduction: Tess Hartmann-Hergott, EU Policy Officer – Biodiversity Finance, EuroNatur
- Keynote on national and regional partnership planning: next steps and where biodiversity fits. Speaker from the European Commission, to be confirmed.
- Presentation of the report: Valters Kinna, Biodiversity Campaigner, CEE Bankwatch Network
