The School of Social and Environmental Sustainability at the University of Glasgow will convene an online session at Science Summit 2026 examining how interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research can help address interconnected sustainability challenges.
The session will explore issues including climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, food poverty, resource depletion and energy security. Drawing on research from the Bloor Research Group, presentations will examine four areas: food waste and food poverty, oil and gas pollution and environmental restoration, the ecological risks of chemical pollution, and climate vulnerability linked to flood-driven contaminant transport and environmental risk.
An expert panel discussion and interactive audience participation will consider how scientific research can support policy-relevant recommendations, knowledge exchange and collaborative responses involving stakeholders and communities.
